GHRP-2 / GHRP-6

Also: growth hormone releasing peptide 2 · growth hormone releasing peptide 6 · pralmorelin

GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 are growth-hormone-releasing peptides that raise growth hormone through the ghrelin receptor. They have real pharmacology and older human research, and GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) has a diagnostic approval for growth-hormone deficiency in some countries. They are not approved for muscle or anti-aging use and are widely sold in the gray market. The Watchlist boundary is separating their real growth-hormone effect and narrow diagnostic context from broad muscle, recovery, and anti-aging claims.

The verdict

Our read at a glance.

Whether GHRP-2 and GHRP-6's ability to raise growth hormone supports the muscle, recovery, and anti-aging claims made for them in the gray market.

The signal
Human studies show GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 reliably raise growth hormone, and GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is used as a diagnostic agent for growth-hormone deficiency in some countries. Evidence for the muscle, recovery, and anti-aging claims people make is limited, and they are not approved for those uses.
The unknown
Whether raising growth hormone with these peptides produces meaningful benefits beyond biomarker changes, whether the growth-hormone response fades with repeated use, and how older or diagnostic research applies to gray-market products.
Our read
Real growth-hormone-releasing peptides with a narrow diagnostic use, not proven muscle or anti-aging therapies. GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 do raise growth hormone, but the evidence for the claims people buy them for is thin, and the gray-market identity and safety questions are the real story.

The mechanism

How it works.

GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 are small synthetic peptides that act as ghrelin-receptor agonists. They bind the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor in the pituitary and hypothalamus and trigger the pituitary to release growth hormone in pulses, which in turn raises IGF-1 from the liver. This growth-hormone effect is well documented in humans, and GHRP-6 also strongly activates the appetite side of ghrelin signaling, so it tends to drive hunger.

Safety & regulatory boundary

The consequential part.

GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 are not approved for muscle or anti-aging use, and outside narrow diagnostic contexts they are sold as research chemicals where product identity and quality are uncertain. They raise growth hormone and can affect appetite and other systems, which is not free of risk. A jurisdiction-specific diagnostic approval for GHRP-2 does not validate muscle or anti-aging claims, and gray-market products are not the same as any approved diagnostic product.

Context

Why this is discussed.

GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 are classic growth-hormone-releasing peptides widely discussed in the performance and anti-aging communities, often stacked with other GH-axis compounds.
